Privacy Policy

Summary

GatherPics lets a host collect photos from event guests into the host's own Google Drive. We never receive or store the photos. They travel from a guest's browser directly to Google Drive. Guests are never asked to sign in, never asked for a name, and never given an account. There is no advertising and no analytics.

Who we are

GatherPics, at gatherpics.app, is operated by Dollar Digital, LLC, a company organized in California. That name appears here because a privacy policy has to identify the legal entity behind the service.

If you're a host

You sign in with Google and grant the drive.file permission — access limited to files and folders this app itself creates. It cannot see anything else in your Drive. We use it to create one folder per event and to add your guests' photos to it.

Because your guests upload when you aren't present, we hold a refresh token for your Google account on our server. This is the one credential we store. It is encrypted with Google Cloud Key Management Service before being written to our database, and is used only to add photos to, and list, the event folders this app created. We also store, for each event you create: its name, the optional date and note you entered, the Drive folder's ID, the expiry date, a running photo count and total size, and the event link's secret.

If you're a guest

You are not asked to sign in, create an account, or give a name, and we do not ask for or store one. When you add a photo, your browser uploads it straight to Google Drive using a one-time upload link our server obtains on your behalf — the photo itself never passes through our servers.

Your browser generates a random identifier the first time you add a photo, stored on your device and attached to the photos you add. It is not linked to your name, email, phone, or Google account, and exists only so the album can group photos by the person who added them and show you which ones are yours. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

We record each upload's file ID, size, file type, and time, along with that random identifier, to enforce the event's limits. To prevent abuse of the upload endpoint we briefly record a counter keyed to your IP address; it holds no photo or personal information and rolls over every minute.

Everyone with the link sees the album

Anyone holding an event link can add photos and view every photo in that event, including photos other guests added. The event's Drive folder is set so that anyone with a link can view it, which is what allows the album to display without sign-in. Treat the event link as you would the guest list: share it with the people you want in the album.

Where your photos live

In the host's Google Drive, under the host's own Google account, and subject to Google's terms and storage quota. The host can stop uploads, let the upload window expire, or delete the event from this app at any time — deleting an event here removes only our record of it and stops the guest link from working. The photos remain in the host's Drive until the host deletes them there.

What we don't do

We don't store your photos, view their contents, or copy them anywhere. We don't run advertising or analytics, don't sell or share data with anyone, and don't build profiles of hosts or guests.

Revoking access

Hosts can revoke this app's access to their Google account at any time from their Google Account permissions page. Doing so immediately stops all guest uploads to your events.

Third parties

GatherPics depends on Google Drive, Google Sign-In, and Google Cloud (which hosts our backend), all operated by Google. Web fonts are served by Google Fonts. There are no advertising or analytics libraries of any kind.

Children's privacy

GatherPics is intended for general audiences. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
