Terms of Service

The short version

Your photos go straight into your Google Drive. We never hold them, so we can't back them up, restore them, or get them back for you — that's between you and Google. And an event link is a key: anyone who has it can see every photo in that album and add their own. Share it accordingly.

The rest of this page says the same things more carefully. By using GatherPics, as a host or as a guest, you agree to it.

What GatherPics does

GatherPics ("the Service") lets a host create an event, share one link, and collect photos and videos from guests into a folder in the host's own Google Drive. Guests upload without signing in or creating an account. The Service is provided by Dollar Digital, LLC ("we," "us"), a company organized in California.

The Service is currently free. We may add paid features later, change what the free tier includes, or stop offering the Service entirely.

Your photos live in Google Drive, not with us

This is the most important thing on this page. When a guest adds a photo, it travels from their browser directly to Google Drive. It does not pass through our servers and we do not keep a copy — not a backup, not a thumbnail, not a temporary one.

That means we cannot recover a photo that is lost, deleted, or corrupted, and we are not responsible for any such loss. Once a file is in the host's Drive, it is governed by the host's Google account and by Google's own terms, storage quotas, and retention policies. Reasons a photo may be missing that are entirely outside our control include:

• The host, or anyone with access to the host's Google account, deletes it or empties their Drive trash.
• The host's Google storage is full, so an upload fails or Google restricts the account.
• The host's Google account is suspended, closed, or loses access to the folder.
• Google changes, restricts, or discontinues the Drive service or its API.
• An upload fails partway on a phone or a weak network and is never retried.
• The host revokes this app's access to their Drive, which immediately stops further uploads.

GatherPics is not a backup service and should not be treated as one. If a photo matters to you, keep your own copy of it. Guests in particular should not delete a photo from their phone just because they added it to an album here.

The event link is a key

Each event has a single unguessable link. There are no passwords, no invitations, and no per-person accounts — that is deliberate, and it is what lets guests contribute without signing in. The consequence is that anyone who has the link can view every photo in that album and add their own, whether or not the host meant to include them.

Links spread in ways their sender does not control. A link forwarded in a group chat, screenshotted, printed on a table card, or posted publicly is available to everyone who sees it. While an album is open, its Drive folder is set so that anyone with a link can view it, which is what allows the album to display without sign-in.

A host who wants a narrower album can turn off "Let guests see everyone's photos" when creating the event. Each guest then sees only what they added themselves. This limits what the album shows; it is not a security boundary, and the host can always see everything in their own Drive.

Hosts are responsible for deciding who receives the link and for what appears in their album. Closing an album from the host page revokes access for everyone — guests can no longer add photos or view what's there, and the folder's anyone-with-link permission is removed. Letting the upload window expire instead stops new uploads while leaving the album viewable. Neither can un-share what someone has already seen or downloaded, and your photos remain in your Drive until you remove them there.

Using the Service responsibly

You agree not to use GatherPics to:

• Upload anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to share.
• Upload sexual content involving minors, or content that harasses, threatens, or defames someone.
• Upload photos of people in a setting where they would reasonably expect privacy, without their agreement.
• Upload malware, or files disguised as photos or videos.
• Attempt to bypass the Service's limits, probe or attack its systems, or automate uploads at scale.

Because guests are anonymous by design, we do not moderate album contents and cannot vet who uploads what. Hosts should treat their album the way they would treat any open guest book.

Limits and availability

Each event has limits on the number of files, total size, individual file size, and how long it accepts uploads. We enforce these on our side and may adjust them at any time to keep the Service workable. We may also suspend or remove an event that appears to be abusing the Service or violating these terms.

The Service is provided as-is. We don't promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and it depends on Google services we don't control.

Your Google account

Hosts sign in with Google and grant permission limited to files and folders this app creates. You can revoke that access at any time from your Google Account permissions page; doing so immediately stops guest uploads to your events. You are responsible for the security of your own Google account.

Deleting an event from the host page removes only our record of it and stops the guest link from working. Your photos stay in your Drive.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of photos, videos, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — including loss caused by Google, by a lost or forwarded event link, or by a failed upload. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for it, which for the free tier is zero.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do, and continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
